By Calvin Azuri TMCnet Contributing Editor
Continuent, a provider of commercial open source middleware
solutions for database high availability, has announced that it will be joining Sun Microsystems’ (News - Alert) new GlassFish Partner Initiative.
Sun Microsystems’ new initiative offers convenient and rapid access to numerous frameworks and applications running on GlassFish as well as fosters collaboration between developers, independent software vendors (ISVs), and system integrators (Sis).
Continuent uni/cluster is touted as a multi-master approach to database replication. With is, data is simultaneously committed to all nodes in the cluster, which eliminates data latency and provides increased reliability through redundancy. The Continuent uni/cluster comes with a built-in load balancer to enable any database server to be used as a medium for processing user queries and provides near-linear scalability and optimal resource utilization, throughput, and response time.
“With millions of developers downloading GlassFish, the GlassFish Partner Initiative not only helps Continuent to showcase our database scale-out offerings to this important open source community but also gives us access to new business models, expanded markets, and increased opportunities for sales engagements,” said Eero Teerikorpi, Continuent CEO.
Continuent offers customers continuous data availability and develops and markets its commercial Continuent uni/cluster products and services, which are based on Sequoia—a database-neutral, open source database-clustering project.
Customers have access to commercial open source solutions for EnterpriseDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. Continuent also provides Sequoia open source solutions for Microsoft (News - Alert) SQL Server, Oracle, IBM DB2, and Sybase.
