Serena Software Intros 'Business Mashup' to Automate Application Release

Serena Software recently launched its new Business Mashup. This solution provide application developers and business users with an automated solution for communicating and collaborating with each other during the application release process.

The Serena Application Release Manager (ARM (News - Alert)) couples its Web 2.0-based workflow capabilities with the ChangeMan ZMF (Zero Mainframe Footprint) to jointly provide an efficient solution for managing the application release process right from the first stage of change requests to the final stage of deployment in the production environment. The ChangeMan ZMF is Serena’s advanced Software Change and Configuration Management (SCCM) application for mainframe systems that protects corporate assets and gets more done in less time.

"Serena's investments in Business Mashups - and the tremendous interest of Mashups in the enterprise have enabled us to deliver unique innovations in the ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) market," remarked Jeremy Burton, chief executive officer at Serena. "The new Application Release Manager Mashup demonstrates our commitment to standardizing and automating ALM processes in the enterprise regardless of whether systems live in the mainframe or distributed world. And there's a lot more to come. Our goal is to continue to be the leading independent provider of ALM software," Burton added.

Like any other Serena Business Mashup, the Application Release Manager also has a visual process designer with customizable process templates to suit their customer’s individual requirements. This is a driving force behind the closed-loop coordination between all the stakeholders like application developers, IT operations teams, as well as business users who earlier had very little idea about mainframe applications but now expect more of their timely releases.

The ARM combines with other business applications developed by Serena for ALM for HR (Human Resources, Sales and Customer Support departments, helping them solve business problems, both minor as well as critical ones. By giving users the freedom to track and approve projects over a Web-enabled mobile device, it also helps keep a tab on the processes despite their geographical location; thus reducing risks of probable delay or cancellation of a critical release.
