Epicor ERP Selected by TECMET
By David Sims TMCnet Contributing Editor
Epicor Software (News - Alert) today announced that Tecnología Metálica en Maquila Industrial (TECMET for the sake of this reporter), a Mexican company dedicated to the industrial production of stainless steel, has selected Epicor’s manufacturing enterprise resource planning product to automate its business processes.
“Striving to improve order and project control inside the company, it was important that we select a product that would comply with all our requirements,” said Humberto Quintanilla, chief executive officer of TECMET, located in Monterrey.
Previously, TECMET did not use a processes automation system. “Since last year we knew that we needed a software tool that would let us take absolute control of all our projects, and enable us to improve our efficiency in costs, and time to fulfill delivery deadlines,” Quintanilla said.
“We were looking for a robust product with proven experience in the make-to-order manufacturing industry, and in January 2008 we selected the Epicor product,” he said.
The Epicor product, built on a true service-oriented architecture using Microsoft (News - Alert) .NET and Web services, is used for collaboration throughout the supply chain.
Last month Epicor announced the third annual Non-Profit and Local Government Special Interest Group Meeting in Atlanta.
In the two-day conference, non-profit organizations will work on applying technology in ways to serve their constituents. The agenda includes presentations from Epicor customers and Epicor team members on such topics as increased visibility, cost control, and operational efficiencies.
Conference meetings are built around input from users and will focus on topics specific to the non-profit and special interest groups of Epicor Software.

Earlier this spring Epicor announced that specialty retailer Boot Barn selected the Epicor Retail Software as a Service product to “streamline its retail operations and support its long-term growth plans.”
Boot Barn was one of four Retail SaaS (News - Alert) deals Epicor signed during the first quarter of 2008. In business for more than 30 years, Boot Barn is a West Coast specialty western and work-wear retailer.
