Avaya Appoints Christopher Formant to Lead Global Services Organization

Bringing broad experience from consulting, software and services industries, Christopher Formant today joined Avaya (News - Alert) as president of its Global Services division. At a time when most companies are looking to improve customer service and worker productivity in the most cost-efficient manner, Christopher Formant will take charge of Avaya’s global services business, officials at Avaya say.

Formant’s experience lies in service to various companies such as the technology consulting firm Scient, where he was the chief executive officer, PricewaterhouseCoopers (News - Alert), where he was the senior partner and global banking leader and MBNA, where he was the executive president.

Prior to joining Avaya, Formant worked for BearingPoint, a global management consulting and technology Services Company. There, he served as executive vice president and an executive committee member overseeing the firm’s global financial services practice. With this knowledge in a variety of industry focused management consulting and technology services solutions, Formant assisted companies in solving large-scale business issues, according to the company. He was also named one of the top 25 consultants in the world by “Consulting Magazine,” while at BearingPoint, company officials say.

In his new role in Avaya, Formant will look to build upon Avaya Global Services’ relationships with business partners and integrators, according to the company. He will also try to create an environment that enables Avaya and its channel partners to achieve mutual goals through joint strategies, company officials say. Paving the way for industry solutions that unify differentiated products and services in new, value-enhancing ways, Format will also explore opportunities to focus on specific vertical industries, according to the company.

With approximately 8,000 employees around the globe, Avaya provides a full range of services across Avaya’s portfolio of open and interoperable communications solutions. This includes planning, design, integration, product support and managed services that merge communications functionality and the business strategies.

“Avaya is one of the few companies in the world that has the products, services and ability to truly transform how business will be conducted in the future,” Formant said. “The convergence of voice, video and data is the next advancement in communications, and Avaya is uniquely positioned to play a central role in helping companies capture future opportunities. Avaya Global Services will be the vehicle that delivers that reality to our clients.”
