CipherOptics Releases CipherEngine Policy and KeyManager for Layer 2 Networks

CipherOptics, a provider of network-wide encryption, has announced the release of CipherEngine Policy and KeyManager for Layer 2 networks. This solution helps organizations protect their data when it travels over Layer 2 networks with no disturbances in performance, operations or applications.

CipherEngine suits those organizations which migrate to Metro Ethernet from traditional SNA, Frame Relay or other legacy technologies.

George Corjin, European Product Manager for Black Box (News - Alert), a system integrator for CipherOptics in Western Europe said, “With the full Layer 2 capability of CipherEngine, customers can easily protect their data as it travels over multiple carriers. With this solution, our customers can ensure that their data is protected as it travels over networks they do not control.”

The innovative security policy generation and encryption key distribution from CipherEngine provides organizations with centralized management for the full network-wide deployment. The encryption solution offers capabilities like setting up an encryption policy based on VLAN as well as offers support for multicast and point-to-multi-point or mesh policies on Ethernet networks.

Globally, organizations benefit from end-to-end data protection and compliance with industry and government regulations as a result of deploying native Layer 2 offering. It is possible to install the CipherEngine solution and make it operational within a few hours even in the case of large enterprise networks.

“This solution is really a breakthrough for Layer 2 network users,” said Richard Neuwirth, Director of Networking and Security at S&T Group, a system integrator for CipherOptics in Central and Eastern Europe.

“What is most impressive is the ease of installation and simplicity of ongoing management with CipherEngine. Customers get the highest level of network security with very little cost to their operations and no disruption to their network performance.”
