Teradata to Implement Enterprise Data Warehouse at Caterpillar

Teradata (News - Alert) Corporation has been selected by Caterpillar, a manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines and industrial gas turbines, to supply licensed software applications and enterprise data warehouse services to support Caterpillar's global rollout of SAP (News - Alert), a program supporting business information management.
Caterpillar purchased Teradata's analytical software running on a LINUX-based three-node 5500H server, plus an additional hot standby node and six terabytes of storage capacity.
"The careful due diligence given to this selection process speaks to the visibility and strategic importance of this global project," Ephraim Flores, Teradata vice president for manufacturing said.
Teradata Corporation is solely focused on raising intelligence through data warehousing and enterprise analytics. Teradata is in more than 60 countries.
Earlier this month, Teradata Corporation expanded its worldwide relationship with Oracle (News - Alert) designed to promote enhanced enterprise-wide analytics, enabling joint customers to gain valuable business insights from greater amounts of detailed data.
