MPower Adds User-Developed Features to Open Source CRM Solution for Nonprofits

Dallas-based MPower, a provider of software for nonprofit constituent relationship management (CRM) and fundraising, announced three product innovations developed by users such as Precept Ministries International, Amazing Facts and Turning Point.

These innovations are expected to be incorporated by the company into its product and support for the benefit of the nonprofit community. According to MMPower, these are the first user contributions to the MPower community it made its full feature solution available as an open source offering in March.

One of the innovations contributed by MPower users is a comprehensive event management solution for turnkey handling of tours, conferences, conventions, classes, workshops, seminars and more including features for registration, payment, transportation, housing and other logistics.

Precept Ministries International has worked with Global Software Solutions to develop the event management product, which fully integrates with MPower.

The other innovation developed by Amazing Facts is an application that provides mobile access to donor profiles in MPower, enabling fundraising professionals to have critical constituent data available while away from the office.

Innovation Integration with Enterprise Suite is a shopping cart and eCommerce software solution developed by Turning Point. With this innovation, officials said, organization can synchronize data between Enterprise Suite and MPower when a constituent simultaneously buys an item online and also makes a donation.

This kind of synchronization gives the nonprofit a complete view of a donor’s complete giving and buying history.  Officials said that without synchronization, an organization would have to manually combine the two data sets—which could take days and weeks to do.

“There’s huge excitement everywhere these days about open source solutions and since MPower has taken the governor off, development around the core product has accelerated at an almost dizzying pace – and this is just the beginning,” said David Michael Jeremiah, COO at Turning Point.

He also said that given the development talent in the charitable sector and what companies are already seeing, “I anticipate high quality, high impact enhancements to MPower coming at us almost faster than we have the ability to leverage them.”

In July, Company announced NFP Consultants announced a partnership that is helping drive adoption of open source CRM solutions by charitable organizations.

Randy McCabe, founder and CEO of MPower, remarked: “Although we at MPower continue to develop our software, our call-to-action to nonprofits everywhere is that we’re all partners in making the world a better place so if you use MPower, dream it, build it and share it – we’ll support it.”

Mark your calendars for Internet Telephony Conference & EXPO — the biggest and most comprehensive IP communications event of the year.  ITEXPO (News - Alert) will take place in Los Angeles, California, September 16-18, 2008, featuring three valuable days of exhibits, conferences, and networking opportunities you can’t afford to miss.
