Sangoma Extends Open Source VoIP into SouthEast Asia

The open source model, which is steadily gaining momentum in the telephony space, promotes the adoption of standards-based solutions that can be easily adapted for use in multiple scenarios. Certainly, there will always be a large number of users that want to have everything handed to them, ready to use, but for those with the expertise and the drive to develop their own add-on applications, open source solutions are becoming a popular alternative to expensive proprietary solutions.

Sangoma Technologies (News - Alert), which develops both hardware cards and software based on an open source model, provides a reliable telephony solution that can bring optimal performance to the most intense communications environments.  Its PC-based telephony products, including a variety of voice & data cards, are designed to integrate into any number of PBX (News - Alert), IVR, and VoIP applications.

Toronto, Ontario-based Sangoma has a sizable presence in North America, but it’s no secret there is a technology hotbed in Asia, and Sangoma is now looking to further it Asian presence with a partnership agreement with Dinh Quang Company, a Vietnamese telephony distributor.

“It’s important that we build open source telephony systems using the highest quality and most reliable hardware for our customers,” said Nguyen Quang Toan, President of DQN.  “Sangoma’s premium product line provides us with crash-proof technology, compatibility, scalability and an engineering-level support team that will work with us when we need them.”

Through this arrangement, Sangoma has solidified its reach into Southeast Asia with a partner with an already solid presence in the region, once that is strengthened by the addition of Sangoma cards and software into its product set. The arrangement is further proof that the PCI market is the Southeast Asia region is not only strong, but growing, making it an ideal time for Sangoma to increase its presence.

“DQN is a partner who understands the market and is well known within the local IT community, so this will be a crucial resource in further educating the ASEAN marketplace about the real value of Sangoma based-solutions,” said David Mandelstam, CEO of Sangoma.
