NeoPhonetics Intros New Unified Messaging Platform for Asterisk
By Raju Shanbhag TMCnet Contributing Editor
Telephony services provider NeoPhonetics (News - Alert) recently announced launch of its Asterisk Business Edition-based unified messaging platform, designed to work with most legacy TDM
and IP PBX systems on the market—including those from Avaya, Cisco, NEC and Nortel (News - Alert).
Wireless News reported that the new solution provides a fully-integrated unified messaging
platform with a variety of features including voicemail for multiple extensions, voicemail to e-mail and paging, call forwarding, SMS, message waiting indicator, distinctive ringtones for multi-tenant phones and voicemail groups using a Web-based portal.
The platform comes equipped with access to 24/7 service and support from NeoPhonetics Asterisk (News - Alert)-certified technicians. Adding users and making other changes are complimentary.
The Wireless News report quoted NeoPhonetics CEO Chad Agate (News - Alert) as saying that, like the company’s other products, this unified messaging platform evolved directly from a custom app designed for a specific customer.
“This new platform can eliminate the need to replace old PBX
systems that work well but lack critical advanced communications capabilities, while also providing customers with a simple way to evaluate Digium (News - Alert) Asterisk as a cost-effective option for replacing their PBXs in the future,” the report quoted Agate as saying. “We anticipate that the ability to provide flexible unified messaging for any amount of multi-tenant users for one fixed price will be particularly attractive to the university community.”
